We need your feedback

We want your feedback on our trial of a lighting installation at the East Warrnambool Water Tower as part of celebrations for the longest night of the year, the winter solstice.

The lights were switched on between 5:30pm and 9:00pm on Saturday 21 June. The display was visible from near and far, but could be seen up close at Tower Square, Selby Road, East Warrnambool.

About the project

Enhancing our assets

We aim to go “beyond water for stronger communities.” To support this goal, we’ve created a Recreation Opportunities Strategy. This strategy provides us with a guide to expand community access to our assets and provide more recreational benefits for local residents and visitors.

We already have several assets that support public art, like murals, throughout the region. These artworks enhance the character of their locations and offer opportunities for cultural, environmental, and corporate education. Local communities value these assets as they foster a sense of identity, belonging, and connection.

We’ve been exploring options for more public art installations and the East Warnambool Water Tower has been highlighted as a potential location. Rather than a static mural, we’re keen to explore the option of lighting, as it offers the opportunity for greater interaction and engagement with our community.

Why a trial?

We trialled the lighting installation to help us get a better understanding of how the system works and what it will look like. It also provides the opportunity for the community to let us know what they think about the project and share any ideas they might have before we proceed any further.

Share your thoughts - it won't take long!

We want you to tell us what you think if the lighting installation trial at the East Warrnambool Water Tower - good, bad or otherwise! You can also share you ideas for other public art options across the region.

Feedback is open until Friday 4 July, 2025.
